Selection process:
14.4.1 The selection process shall be as follows:
i) Phase I – On-line preliminary examination (Objective type). This is a qualifying examination to be eligible for Phase II. Through this, candidates  for Actuarial, Accounting and Legal specializations and  General vacancies will be shortlisted separately for Phase II On-line Descriptive examination as per standards to be decided separately by IRDAI. Markssecured in the Phase I - on-line preliminary examination will not count for interview or final selection.

ii)      Phase II –   On-line Descriptive examination comprising 3 Papers (Paper I, II and III) and

iii)     Phase III  --  Interview

Candidates for Actuarial, Accounting, Legal specialization and General vacancies will be short-listed for Phase III - Interview based on the aggregate marks obtained only in Phase-II Descriptive Examination – Papers I, II and III. The minimum cut off marks for being short-listed for Phase III - Interview will be decided separately for candidates in each specialization and General vacancies by IRDAI. Final selection will be based on the performance of the candidates shortlisted under respective specialization in Phase-II Descriptive Examination and Phase III - Interview taken together.

14.4.2 The On-line preliminary Examination (Phase I) will be for 160 marks with four Tests as under:

How to prepare Subject wise:

English Language : 

This section is usually Common Errors, jumbled Sentence, jumbled Words, spelling errors, comprehension Test, filling the blanks,  Phrase Meaning, Phrase Replacement like questions from within., approximately 25 to 30 percent of the questions most weight age is possible that in the comprehension. Grammar and Vocabulary standard is Mandatory for English test on this SBI PO Exam. Grammar grip increases by continuous study as it is the main weapon. Speed reading also contributes English success. Should be 200 to 250 words per minute reading speed. In addition, it Main Preference English Descriptive testing. In Descriptive test will comes Letter Writing, Precise writing, essay writing etc so Much Grammar Grip Needed. for this can Concentrate on Sentence formation and Vocabulary .


Test of Reasoning:


The answer depends on the ability of self-reflection that is Section Reasoning. Critical, logical analysis, to identify key words in question need to be eagle-eyed. Series, analogy, Classifications, directions, Blood Relations, alphabetical orders, numbers need to prepare for it. Coding, and decoding, Ranking, Order of arrangement grip on it.

Quantitative Aptitude

Tips for cracking each section

Reasoning:
Reasoning is a test of observing our mental and problem solving ability. Reasoning is not like numerical skill where you learn some formula and solve question by applying that formula.Understand the question before solving it. Don’t take much time for single question.You have to be very careful while answering these questions.Practice similar questions from previous model papers or previous year’s exam papers are the key to do well in this section.The most important questions from this section are on the topics such as Seating Arrangements, Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Statement and Conclusions, Directions, Blood Relations, Analogy, Classification, Series problems, Missing Characters, Odd Man out, Ranking Test, Data sufficiency, Assumptions and Directions. Non-Verbal is the toughest of all.
Which questions you have to attempt first –
It’s better to attempt first those questions on which you are very confident and you can attempt in a minimum time.Please do not start with Seating Arrangement/ Puzzle type’s questions because once you stuck in these questions, you will lose your valuable time.


Quantitative Aptitude
This section contains the basic mathematical questions. Before exercising such questions, it is better to go through the basic mathematical formulae and learn some short cuts to solve the questions in lesser time. In this section, the questions act as Calculation Instruments. This section is extremely scoring and the right understanding of the problem can help the aspirants to sail through this section. The most important questions from this section are on the topics such as Number Systems, Fractions, Ratio and Proportion, Time & Work, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Problems on Ages,Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Average, Time & Distance, Mensuration, Partnership and Data Interpretation.
Data Analysis and Interpretation contains Pie charts, Bar Diagrams and graphs. It is one of the time consuming concept.So it’s better to do at least five questions of this type a day to speed up your calculations.
Don’t try guesses in this section,Speed up your calculation and Learn Square up to 30 and multiplication tables up to 20 are some key points to score well in this section.

General English:
 English exam is tough when you compare with other competitive exams and this is the section where many aspirants are not able to score minimum cut off marks. As you all read English books, chat with your friends in English and of course watch English movies. But you cannot get score good marks in English section. Most of the students face difficulty in this section. This is a test principally to determine candidate’s ability to remember main ideas and significant details. The most important questions from this section are on the topics such as Grammar, Comprehension, Error Correction, Vocabulary and Synonyms & Antonyms.

    Read English newspapers daily.
    Improve your vocabulary by knowing 10 new words everyday along with its Synonyms and Antonyms.
    Watch good English news channels.
    Can refer the book ‘Wren n Martin’.


Some Key Points to crack this Exam:

    Keep Practicing – Practice as much as you can do for sections such as Data Interpretation and Reasoning as it will take time to solve questions of these sections. You have to be quick in solving mathematical calculations.
    Get the detailed information about the syllabus – There will be two papers, first is Objective type test and second is Descriptive type test. You need to have a look at the sections and their topics of both these papers so that you can start your preparation well
    Focus on each section – The selection process is based on the score of your exam in each section. Keep in mind that you have to clear the cut off marks of each of the sections.
    Get an idea of questions from previous year’s papers – Practice from previous year’s question papers will give a clear idea about the difficulty level of questions and pattern of question paper.
    Last time Revisions – After you have finished your course, go for one more reading. This will help you in memorizing the facts properly. It will be better if you prepare short notes as well. This helps in revision at a later stage when time is less.



A candidate has to qualify in each Objective test separately and in aggregate as per the cut-off marks for each test and in aggregate to be decided by IRDAI. Separate cut-offs may also be applied for each of the specialization and general posts. Tests will be provided in English and Hindi (except test of English Language will be provided only in English).

14.4.3  The scores of Phase I - On-line preliminary Examination will be computed by adopting the following procedure:
              i.    There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests.1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
            ii.    Number of questions answered correctly by a candidate in each objective test is considered for arriving at the Corrected Score after applying penalty for wrong answers.
           iii.    The Corrected Scores so obtained by a candidate are made equivalent to take care of the minor difference in difficulty level, if any, in each of the objective tests held in different sessions to arrive at the Equated Scores*.
*Scores obtained by candidates in any test are equated to the base form by considering the distribution of scores obtained in all examinations, if the examination is conducted in more than one session.
           iv.    Test-wise scores and scores on total is computed with decimal points up to two digits.
14.4.4  .Candidates are required to appear for all three papers in Phase-II examination in two sessions. Separate Admission letters will be issued for each session, one for the morning session – 3 hours examination and another for the afternoon session - 90 min examination, of Phase-II Descriptive examination. The time-table for Phase-II Descriptive examination will be intimated to the candidates concerned along with Admission Letter for Phase-II. The Phase–II online Descriptive examination will consist of three papers as under:

d)      Economic reforms in India leading to Insurance sector reforms, Insurance regulation - financial and market conduct regulations, functions of IRDAI, role of an Actuary, de-tariffing in India, motor business and Indian experience, changing Insurance Regulations/Laws and FSLRC.
e)      Social structure in India, Insurance in rural and social sectors and obligations of Insurers thereto, Indian Micro-Insurance experience, Social security laws and implementation thereof. RSBY - Health insurance scheme for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

(iii) Paper III  - Insurance and Management:
Part 1- Insurance:
a)      History of Indian Insurance, principles of Insurance;

c)      Legal foundations of Insurance, basics in Group/Health Insurance/Pensions; Intermediation: role in mobilising savings, evolution of various types and Bancassurance in India;
d)      Functions performed by Insurers: Product design, pricing, distribution, underwriting, claims, Investment and Reinsurance;

14.4.5  The above syllabus is only indicative and not exhaustive. Keeping in view that candidates from different areas of study apply for the post, the questions in Papers I and II will be of foundation standard.

15    PHASE III - Interview:
15.1  Candidates who have been shortlisted in Phase-II Descriptive examination will subsequently be called for an Interview. At this stage, in respect of nine posts proposed to be filled up bythe candidates with professional qualifications, the availability of suitable candidates with horizontal (inter-locking) reservation for each such earmarked specialization will be examined for decision by the competent authority. Exact venue, its address, time and date of interview will be notified later on IRDAI’s website and the shortlisted candidates for Interview shall download their call letters from IRDAI website.

15.2  Only such number of candidates will be called for interview who stand sufficiently high in order of merit in the aggregate marks of the Phase II Descriptive examination, such merit being decided by IRDAI in relation to the number of vacancies to be filled in, under each specialization and General.  If there are no candidates under any of the specializations or if no candidates get eligibility under any of the specializations, such vacancies will be considered as General vacancies.

15.3  Please note that any request regarding change in venue, time and date, centre of Interview will not be entertained. However, IRDAI reserves the right to change the date/ venue/ time/ centre, etc. of Interview or hold supplementary process for particular date / session / venue / centre / set of candidates at its discretion.

15.4  Final selection will be on the basis of candidate's performance in Phase II examination and interview (combined score) taken together in order of merit.

15.5  The weightage of Descriptive Examination and interview will be 85:15. The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Descriptive examination and interview under each specialization.
