General guidelines for preparing for Hotel Management Entrance NCHMCT JEE Exam
The basic thing the students need to be aware is the significance of the exam. They require a focused plan. The one thing they can do to help them is to create a time table. They can separate each subject and study accordingly. Students can take small footsteps and achieve a lot within a small time.  The basic qualification needed by a candidate to appear for these exams is a pass in standard 12. They should have learned English as one of their subjects.
Hotel Management Entrance Exam Pattern
The majority of entrance exams in hotel management will include topics such as:
  • Aptitude for Service Sector
  • English Language
  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs
  • Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude
  • Reasoning and Logical Deduction
The examination will have a time period of 3 hours. 1 mark shall be provided to the students if they answer correctly. If they answer incorrectly, 0.25 marks will be deducted. In case the candidates have not chosen the correct answer or have marked above one answer, no marks will be given for that question. Negative marking is not there for the Aptitude for Service Sector section.
Set up a full proof study Plan
The students need to have a comprehensive study Plan as to help them achieve their goal. This study plan must be practical and convenient for the student to follow. They must be able to both learn as well as relax with the help of this study plan.
Ladders in preparing for the Exam
The students are recommended to plan their study time accordingly.  Each subject must have its own allotted time.  Candidates can divide their syllabus into small segments and thus they would be able to get familiar with the different subject topics. Another thing they must keep in their mind is not to over exert them. If they do so, they won’t be able to concentrate on anything at all.
Choosing the right place to study is very important. The place must be free of all hindrances. The students can either study at their homes or at libraries. If they like to study with groups, they can do so with their friends, this will prove to be an effective method to correct and clear each other’s doubts. On top of this they can also monitor each other progress and keep a time limit for each topic. This can be checked by practicing on sample test papers. The benefit of doing this is that they will be able to determine their stronger and weaker areas and correct them in time.

• The “Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude” section of the NCHMCT-JEE 2015  has 30 questions and tests your basic maths and science knowledge. Going through the NCERT mathematics and science books (9th to 10th standard) would suffice as preparation for this section. One can expect questions based on the number system, percentages, profits and loss, averages, time-work, simple interest, compound interest, time- speed- distance and geometry in maths and numerical questions like calculating the number of moles present in 180g of water as well as theoretical questions in science.

One should learn squares, cubes and percentage equivalent of fractions and develop various other techniques available for approximations, which can at times help you eliminate the options and get the correct answer much faster. The analytical skills need to be consciously developed over a period of time through constant practice and by solving different types of questions. Try to learn the basics of logic and practise questions on syllogisms, logical consistency, statement assumptions and numerical series.

Sample question:
Q.Statements : Some chairs are tables. Some tables are drawers. All drawers are shelves

• The “General Knowledge & Current Affairs” section of NCHMCT-JEE 2015 again has 30 questions which covers important topics like history, geography, important awards, sports, movies and topics of relevance in the present time (greenhouse effect, global warming etc). Keep abreast of all the current happenings (national & international) and events of significance (current and from at least one year before the exam date).
“Test yourself on sample GK quizzes and tests to identify commonly asked questions. Reading some standard books and magazines on GK would be helpful. Make sure you check the right answer at all times to avoid making mistakes in the actual paper”.

This section tests your reading skills, vocabulary & grammar (tenses, rules of correct usage, rules of conjunction, preposition, spotting errors, improvement of sentences, one word substitutions, sentence completion, sequence of words, synonyms, antonyms, reading comprehension, spelling rules and idioms).

The “Aptitude for Service Sector” section of NCHMCT-JEE 2015 aims to test if you possess these skills. This is the only section that has no negative marking. The best way to crack this is to remain true to yourself and answer as per your personal judgment.
“There are no wrong answers in this section, all answers are marked in a graded format, so even if you mark the least appropriate answer, you stand to score something. So attempt all the 50 questions of this section”.

More tips to crack NCMHCT-JEE 2015:
  • Refer to previous years’ question papers. “Analyze the trends and the kind of questions. You will discover that there are certain questions that appear every year, while certain other topics are relatively not so important”.
  • Sample tests should be an important part of your preparation in the last week leading up to the exam. “Spend some time taking JEE mock tests and analyse your performance. With 200 questions to attempt in 3 hours, time management will hold the key”.
Its not Easy! Of course its not! Studying itself is usually a very boring exercise, something which most of us would like to avoid. But eventually, sitting for competitive entrance exams is, more often than not, a regular feature in any students life. Starting from pre-nursery admissions to post graduate courses given the limited number of seats in the prestigious colleges and courses, the competition is bound to rise. And as it gets tougher it get more stressful for most students

Know your strengths and Weaknesses

You can plan the journey to the destination well if you know the start point. You need to understand your strengths and weaknesses for any test preparation, like you can be strong in Mathematics, average in Physics and totally clueless in Chemistry. This is important because then you will create your plan to turn your weaknesses into strengths and ignore certain weaknesses if they are not important from exam point of you and improve your strengths.

Plan your preparation

It is rightly said, "He who fails to plan, plans to fail". Nobody can undermine the importance of planning when doing any important task, and if it means preparing for the Hotel Management exam, you should be even more careful. The Study Plan that will be created for you will be weekly, you will be assigned some chapters to study every week so that you are able to complete your syllabus in time

Practice Hard

Don't forget that only learning chapters will not take you anywhere, it is questions that you need to answer in the final  exam. So practice, practice and practice till you are perfect at the chapter and then move ahead

Beyond Studies

It is important study hard and spend few hours daily on preparation but an hour or a half in your daily timetable demands to be just for yourself. Exercise in this time to keep your mind, body and soul fit. Breathing exercises should be included in this regime in order to relieve the stress and be ready for intellectual challenges. Food is also a very important aspect that needs to be taken care of when preparing for entrance examinations. Stay away from fried, fatty and high sugar foods and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Special Tips for Students

Below mentioned are some important tips when deciding what chapter to study on any given day:

* If you have enough time for the exam, pick a chapter you are weak in and one that is important from the exam standpoint.
* Or if you do not have enough time, pick a chapter that you are comfortable, have not practiced enough and that is an important chapter.
* Any day give priority to important chapters if you have not revised them or not practiced enough questions on them.
* If exams are just approaching, leave out any new chapters because it will create a lot of stress and anyway you cannot master it enough for the exam.
* Keep in mind important milestones coming up, like mock tests or school exams, festivals or family functions.
